About NGTC
Based in Greater Manchester, New Generation Training and Consultancy (NGTC) has been trading since 2008 predominately delivering AEB, ESF and full-cost recovery programmes.
Providing training within the security and events sectors, we are regularly attending major sporting and music events at venues, as we partner with some of the biggest employers in the country.
Our core curriculum intent is centred on the endpoint of progressing our learners into sustainable employment within the security and night-time economy. Our main qualifications include Spectator Safety and Door Supervisor, but we also deliver a range of education and training qualifications starting at level 3 up to level 5.
Purpose of the role
.The Distance Learning Assessor is responsible for marking, grading, and providing detailed and constructive feedback on learners’ online work. The assessor also monitors learner progress, ensuring timely support and intervention where needed. This role requires sector competence in Spectator Safety and relevant assessment qualifications to maintain quality, consistency, and alignment with awarding body requirements. The Distance Learning Assessor is committed to delivering high-quality assessment practices that support learners in achieving their goals and preparing them for further education, training, or employment. The role ensures all assessment activities are inclusive, engaging, and aligned with organisational and regulatory standards. By embedding safeguarding, British values, equality, health, safety, and online safety principles into all activities, the Distance Learning Assessor fosters a positive and supportive learning environment, contributes to organisational improvement plans, and ensures learner progression and satisfaction.
Main duties and responsibilities
Main Responsibilities
Marking and Grading
- Mark and grade learners’ online submissions for Spectator Safety Levels 2, 3, and desirably Level 4, ensuring compliance with awarding body criteria.
- Use clear marking rubrics and criteria to provide consistent and transparent grading.
- Ensure all grades and feedback are recorded accurately and within agreed deadlines.
Monitoring Learner Progress
- Regularly monitor learner progress against set milestones, identifying those at risk of falling behind.
- Identify and address barriers to learning, implementing tailored interventions to support disadvantaged learners.
- Provide timely support and intervention to ensure learners stay on track with their studies and assessments.
- Communicate progress updates to learners, tutors, and the Education and Skills Team.
- Analyse progress data to identify trends and implement strategies to address learner challenges effectively.
- Attend online teaching, learning, and assessment sessions to monitor learner engagement and participation.
- Monitor and manage online group chats, addressing learner questions and ensuring a supportive and inclusive environment.
- Provide summative & formative feedback on learners’ overall progress, highlighting strengths and areas for development.
Providing Feedback - Provide comprehensive, constructive, and detailed feedback to learners to guide their improvement and progression.
- Tailor feedback to individual learner needs, promoting understanding and encouraging excellence.
- Address recurring themes in learner submissions, offering additional guidance or resources as required
Promoting Personal Development - Promote personal development by fostering learners’ confidence, resilience, and teamwork skills through constructive feedback and supportive interactions.
- Encourage learners to develop critical skills that prepare them for further education, training, or employment.
Compliance and Reporting - Ensure assessments align with internal policies, external awarding body standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate and secure records of assessments, grades, progress, and feedback to support quality assurance processes.
- Provide regular progress and performance reports to the Education and Skills Team and other stakeholders.
Health, Safety & Online Safety - Maintain a focus on learner health, safety, and online safety by embedding these principles into all assessment activities and interactions.
- Promote a safe and inclusive learning environment that supports learners’ well-being and development.
Collaboration - Collaborate with tutors, assessors, and the Education and Skills Team to ensure consistency in assessment practices.
- Participate in standardisation and moderation meetings to uphold assessment quality and compliance.
- Liaise with learners to address questions or concerns related to their assessments, progress, and feedback.
Quality Assurance and Improvement - Identify areas for improvement in learner work or instructional materials and contribute to their enhancement.
- Support the development of assessment rubrics, templates, and guidance to improve clarity and consistency.
- Stay updated on changes to Spectator Safety qualifications and awarding body requirements to ensure compliance and relevance
Skills Required

Person Specification
Essential
- Sector competence in Spectator Safety at Levels 2 and 3.
- Assessing qualifications (e.g., TAQA, A1, or equivalent).
- Proven experience in marking, grading, and monitoring progress in vocational education or training.
- Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to provide clear and constructive feedback.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines consistently.
- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of accuracy.
Desirable
- Sector competence in Spectator Safety Level 4.
- Experience working in further education, distance learning, or vocational training sectors.
