Description
NGTC is hiring a full-time Quality and Operations Manager (QOM) to oversee the quality, compliance, and performance of our curriculum. This role presents a huge opportunity for the right person to have a significant impact now, and on the next chapter of the company. This is a job where you really will be valued, and you can make your mark at an organisation. We’re wanting to make sure our learners have the best learning experience ever.
About NGTC
Based in Greater Manchester, NGTC has been trading since 2008 predominately delivering AEB, ESF and full-cost recovery programmes, and until recently apprenticeships, and traineeships.
Providing training within the security and events sectors, we are regularly attending major sporting and music events at venues, as we partner with some of the biggest employers in the country.
Our core curriculum intent is centred with the endpoint of progressing our learners into sustainable employment within the security and night-time economy. Our main qualifications include Spectator Safety and Door Supervisor, but we also deliver a range of education and training qualifications starting at level 3 up to level 5.
About the Job
At many independent training providers, performance improvement is split into different roles: quality of education, funding compliance, learning and development etc. Additionally, there is generally a separation in delivery and funding models: apprenticeships, ESF, full-cost recovery and NVQs (employed and unemployed).
At NGTC, it’s all one role. This means the people we employ are terrific generalists.
Along with having great coaching and development skills, you must be able to identify and resolve complex funding compliance issues. You will be comfortable with authoring self-assessment reports and quality improvement plans, but also be able to expertly execute your plans in a calm and timely manner.
You will be able to confidently collaborate with all departments taking on both staff, employer, learner, and stakeholder feedback. You will be expected to address the key objectives and key results from those department heads in order to take the business to the next level and provide an excellent learning experience for all.
You will be expected to champion safeguarding, EDI, H&S and British values.
To give you a taste of life at NGTC here are some things we’ve worked on recently to give you a sense of what you’ll be doing day-to-day.
- Delivery of our exit strategy for apprenticeship
- Providing smooth progress for all apprentices into EPA
- Recruited over 200 learners in 8 weeks onto AEB programmes
- Managing the timely qualification completion from all learners on AEB contracts
- Assessment teams have been deployed for learners at major sporting and music events throughout England
- Implemented a full review of all learner’s IAG sessions to ensure a high-quality learning experience.
- Developed a full payment integration onto our website
- Full curriculum review of learning materials and lesson plans
- Maintain compliance with funding paperwork
- Authoring our annual SAR
- Tracking learner progress and managing risk for year-end
About You
You’ll work on the performance of our new funded contracts to ensure quality, performance, and compliance while ensuring a smooth exit from our direct apprenticeship contract. We believe that the best results come from someone who can see it all through, from identifying improvements to the finished results. You’ll work on the whole learner journey, not just small parts of the quality improvement plan.
You should already have experience with Ofsted requirements, and you will have already achieved a formal qualification in quality of education, teaching, and project management such as an internal verification award, award in education and training or PRINCE2.
As a manager of one, you’ll drive quality improvements, big and small, over twelve-week cycles. You’ll set direction, take ownership, make calls, and see things through without a lot of oversight. You’ll be able to communicate clearly with your colleagues, work across teams, and lend a helping hand when needed.
You approach your work with a spirit of partnership and collaboration, not exclusion or rigidness. You’re a resourceful problem solver; you can feel for gaps in what you’re working on, make solutions and successfully implement them.
NGTC promotes a hybrid working model culture. For this role, you’ll be expected to be comfortable working alone and when needed travel by car to venues across the UK.
Our work is not 9-5 Monday to Friday.
Since we offer hybrid working, the bulk of our communication is either written or video-call. You’ll be expected to be able to strongly communicate via video-call and write long-form posts or short chats using our internal project management tools. We value good writers and verbal communicators. We also value people who can take a stand yet commit when they disagree. We provide our people with the opportunity to produce their best work with a level of autonomy and trust but with support when required; we are all here to support each other.
Here are some of the things you can expect to be working on within your first 100 days with NGTC:
- Shadowing key members of the delivery and assessment team to see our quality of education strategy
- Performance managing a new ESF contract
- Observe teaching and assessment at our partner venues
- Standardise the quality of education for stakeholders
- Promote opportunities to increase revenue with quality improvements
- Track learner progress and manage at-risk learners
- Increase learner and employer satisfaction with the current learning journey
- Monitor and implement contract compliance and performance systems
What To Expect
You can expect a robust onboarding process with a structured ramp-up time. You can expect a team that listens. You can expect to be counted on and the freedom to do your best work. You’ll be greeted by a Senior Management team that all work at the coalface of our business and are all passionate about the business and the sector. There will be plenty of opportunities for you to build a long-lasting legacy at NGTC and implement our vision together as a business.
Pay and benefits
The salary for this role is £40,000.00.
You will receive 20 days of annual leave, plus 8 public holidays.
Access to our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP). This includes a 24-hour helpline from a Health Assured professional who can provide well-being support.
The well-being services include, but are not limited to;
- Home life support
- Work-life assistance
- Counselling
- Financial well-being
- Childcare support.
How to apply
Please submit an application that speaks directly to this position by emailing recruitment@ngtc.co.uk or submit it below. Tell us about yourself, about what you can bring to NGTC, and about NGTC’s role in your future. Tell us why you’re a Quality Operations Manager (QOM). Be descriptive, but don’t feel the need to write a novel — 800 words or so should be plenty. We are happy to receive a CV and cover letters as well if you feel that better supports your application.
We’re accepting applications until 30th November 2022.

After the interviews, the final candidates will be given an at-home challenge. The exercise is representative of the kind of work you’ll be expected to do, it helps us understand how you’d approach new problems from scratch. We invite no more than 5 candidates to this stage.
We hope to make an offer in December 2022, with a flexible start date later that month.
Please note that due to the number of applications we receive for open positions, we’re unable to offer individual feedback during the screening process.
This is a demanding application process and a significant, long-term career move to consider. We appreciate you giving us that consideration, and we promise to give you our full attention in return. We look forward to hearing from you!
