NGTC staff members, who are experts in the Spectator Safety and Security industry, have been training employees at a North East football club to ensure that the match day experience is enjoyable and as safe as possible.
The team from NGTC are in the progress of completing the training with 50 members of staff at Middlesbrough Football Club’s Riverside Stadium. By the end of the training, the staff members will be awarded a Nationally-Accredited IQ Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Spectator Safety – a qualification required for any significant spectator event.
The training has been delivered primarily to stewards who joined the Club at the start of the 2016/17 season and is designed to complement and test the competence they have developed whilst working at events. The award helps to ensures that stewards are able to handle most situations that occur.
Chris Patzelt, the Safety Officer for Middlesbrough, said: “The training is required for people stewarding spectator events and provides them with the knowledge and confidence to react to eventualities they may encounter. The training was well delivered and the team at NGTC were very flexible in their approach and very amenable,”
NGTC’s training was delivered by Managing Director, Mike Needham and tutors Gary Brennan, Willie Scoots and Wayne Beadle.
Mike said: “The training has been a success and all of those taking part should successfully complete the course before the end of the season.”
Based in Greater Manchester, NGTC has a strong client base of well-known sporting organisations and colleges and delivers everything from pre-employment courses and apprenticeships, to specialist courses, such as Spectator Safety.
