This qualification is for candidates who are currently working or looking to work as: – Safety Steward, Security Officer, Turnstile Operators, Response Stewards, Event Assistant. The qualification is mapped to the Skills Active Spectator Safety National Occupational Standards, recommended as the minimum level qualification in the SGSA’s green guide for Safety and Sports Ground.
This is the standard qualification for accessing frontline employment within events and crowd control including stadia, festivals, racecourses, arenas, shopping centres or anywhere involved with dealing with crowds.

To complete the full qualification, you will also be required to undertake NACTSO’s ACT Awareness and ACT Security online modules through our e-learning platform.
This qualification requires candidates to complete a work/industry placement experience throughout the duration of the qualification before certification. Your tutor/assessor will visit you in your place of work to undertake observation of practice and practical assessments around your normal working/placement patterns.
You will be assigned a course mentor/tutor to work through an assessed portfolio of evidence. Online or classroom delivery is available for underpinning knowledge training. Your course mentor/tutor will visit you in your place of work to support your development.

Course Day One – Theory – Classroom or Online – Full Day
Course Day Two – Theory – Classroom or Online – Full Day
Course Day Three – Workplace/Placement Visits & Assessments – Full Day
Course Day Four – Workplace/Placement Visits & Assessments – Full Day
Course Day Five – Workplace/Placement Visits & Assessments – Full Day
You will also be invited to participate in scenario-based, interactive webinar sessions – details of which will be in the user area of your NGTC account
In some cases, you may be able to complete your underpinning knowledge training online through our virtual learning environment, NewGen Learning. In this instance, you will receive guidance via email on how to access and navigate the online platform. If you require further assistance, please speak with your course tutor.
When booking, please allow time to undertake the initial assessments (15-20 minutes) and have copies of any supporting documents you wish to submit into us as part of your application. This includes documents for funding (if applicable) and proof of an exemptions you may have (example – ACT certificates).

There are no formal entry requirements for candidates undertaking this qualification, however candidates must complete the ACTnow training to achieve the full Certificate. If you need to complete this, you can through the user area of our website once you are registered.
Candidates must demonstrate adequate prior knowledge and experience to ensure they have the potential to gain the qualification.
In some cases this qualification can be available fully funded through government grants (eligibility criteria applies)
