Level 4 Diploma in Spectator Safety Management

Qualification Purpose

This qualification is for candidates who are already employed or are looking to progress into a safety management role with spectator safety and are involved in planning of safety at an event, managing resources, and developing and implementing policies.

It is also suitable for Those wishing to take the qualification as a platform for progression onto further learning in this area.  Candidate may be looking to or currently working as Safety Officers, Security Managers, Event Planners.

Course overview

To achieve the qualification learners must achieve 8 Mandatory Units:

• Unit 1: Plan for the Safety of People at Spectator Events
• Unit 2: Manage the Safety and Security of People at Spectator Events
• Unit 3: Develop, Implement & Review policies and procedures at Spectator Events
• Unit 4: Manage Information for action and Decision Making for Spectator Events
• Unit 5: Manage Resource for Safety and Security at Events
• Unit 6: Manage risk in Crowded Places
• Unit 7: Manage the Initial Response to Significant or Major Incidents and Plan for Resilience
• Unit 8: Work with Others to Improve Customer Service

An additional 3 Optional Units will also be selected with your course tutor to complete the qualification

• Unit 9: Monitor and Solve Customer Service Problems
• Unit 10: Recruit, Select and Retain People
• Unit 11: Support Individuals ‘Learning & Development
• Unit 12: Identify & Evaluate Opportunities for Innovation and Improvement
• Unit 13: Allocate & Monitor the progress and quality of work in your area of Responsibility
• Unit 14: Develop your Knowledge, Skills & Competence
• Unit 15: Manage Projects
• Unit 16: Develop and Sustain Productive Working Relationships with Stakeholders

Your course tutor will assist you with optional unit selection

Course Structure

To meet the requirements of the full qualification, candidates must complete three elements

1. An e-portfolio of Underpinning Knowledge and Evidence of Professional Practice (e.g. Policy Documents, contingency plans etc.)
2. Assessment of Practice undertaken by one of our Assessors when candidates are acting in a safety management role
3. ACT Strategic (delivered by National counter terrorism org – NACTSO) (1 Day Course) – we will assist in facilitating and setting this up.

Underpinning knowledge workshops can be done face to face or via our online webinar platform.

ACT Strategic

To complete the full qualification, you will also be required to undertake NACTSO’s Action Counters Terrorism (ACT) strategic.  Your course tutor will assist you with setting up the ACT strategic programme at your place of work.
