Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement

QUALIFICATION PURPOSE

This qualification is intended for those who assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in
environments other than the work environment (for example a workshop, classroom or other training
environment). It includes the following assessment methods (although not all of these require
performance evidence):

•  assessment of the learner in simulated environments
• skills tests
• oral and written questions
• assignments
• projects
• case studies
• recognising prior learning.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

The objectives of these qualifications are to:

• provide the essential knowledge and understanding that assessment staff need, and offer additional
  units that describe competent practice. This approach gives flexibility and a greater potential to meet
  the needs of aspiring Assessors.

Entry guidance

These qualifications are designed for learners aged 19 and above.

There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for these qualifications. However, candidates may find it helpful if they’ve already achieved a Level 2 qualification.

Entry is at the discretion of NGTC. We will need to make sure that candidates can fulfil the requirements of the learning outcomes and comply with the relevant literacy, numeracy and health and safety aspects of these qualifications.

Learners registered on these qualifications shouldn’t undertake another qualification at the same level with the same or a similar title, as duplication of learning may affect funding eligibility.

ASSESSMENT & DELIVERY METHOD

You will be assigned a course mentor/tutor to work through an assessed portfolio of evidence. Online or classroom delivery is available for underpinning knowledge training.  Your course mentor/tutor will visit you in your place of work to support your development.

PROGRESSION

Learners who achieve this qualification could progress to:

• Level 4 Award in Understanding the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice
• Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice
• Level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practise
• Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training (601/1621/3)
